…not what you’re thinking! Get your mind out of the gutter. Ha! This is a mommy blog, after all!
Have you ever opened your mouth and your mother came out? Before becoming a mom, I swore when my eldest son was born that I would NOT ever be that humiliating mom who coughed a little too loudly (read dramatically) when someone was smoking near us (super embarrassing as a child) or give a pre-warning to be on your best behavior before we went somewhere (eye roll, I hadn’t even done anything yet!!!). I vowed to be the cool mom and not be the overbearing, dramatic, fight for your rights – kinda mom.
Here I am today, learning the ropes of motherhood. Telling my child that he better not hide in the clothing racks BEFORE we even enter the parking lot. I am the mom who loudly yells EXCUSE ME when you’re shoving me with your stroller at Disneyland or the mall (practice caution, please!). I am not afraid to ask you put your cigarette out in a NON-smoking zone (second hand smoke kills).
All the things I rolled my eyes at and belly groaned at as a child – I now see me doing and most of the time, I see the importance of why it’s being done. Except when I yell “If you don’t behave, I am going to turn this car around.” For sure, I will not turn this car around because of your outburst. I have places to go, people to see(more like groceries to see). Haha!
