Bedtime routines. I used to be such a hater of routines in general. I would talk about how we let our boys dictate their schedules – they tell us when they’re hungry, active, need to rest and especially when to go to bed. Overall it worked well… for the first few years at least.
Then we had to get up for school, work, weekend sport activities, etc – and although I still think this method is beneficial – I also learned that it doesn’t work the best when the kids and mama must be at school and work at a designated time. Since that revelation, we decided to establish a bedtime routine.
We’ve been on this routine for a few weeks now and I must say that mornings have been easy (considering that they’re mornings lol). What has helped even more is using JOHNSON’S® products and especially JOHNSON’S® Calming Shampoo. A nightly bath with those babies, keeps our bedtime routine on track!
OUR BEDTIME ROUTINE FEATURING JOHNSON’S® PRODUCTS
RING THE ALARM
We started off our routine by setting an alarm to note the start of bedtime. My phone alarm goes off at 6:50 every night. Once it goes off, My husband and I let our boys know they have 10 minutes left of whatever we’re doing. Then it’s time to get ready for bed!
CLEAN UP TIME
Now it’s time to clean up. Toys off the floor, rooms picked up. My husband and I try to get the dishes and kitchen cleaned up at this time as well. Shoes find their home and backpacks are loaded by the door.
BUBBLES, BATHS AND HAPPINESS
My littles live for the water, which means they live for bath time. Sometimes they get to play, other times it’s quickies but it is ALWAYS done with JOHNSON’S® Calming Shampoo.

BEDTIME
After all the hugs and kisses and 20 glasses of water… they finally lay down for bed. Once those eyes shut, they are down for the count. I know it has everything to do with a warm bath and JOHNSON’S® Calming Shampoo. Once all is said and down – we have total silence by 8:00/8:15 the latest.
